Meet Sydney

Hi there! I am Sydney Reese (she/her).

I am so happy you have begun the journey to become the best version of you!

I enjoy working alongside people as they reach their full potential. I believe everyone deserves to have someone on their team as they go through life's difficulties. I would love to be your team member as you learn more about yourself and develop helpful skills.

I am a licensed eligible therapist, specializing in therapy for adolescents and adults dealing with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and other mental health struggles.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, hanging with my pets, and teaching myself how to rollerblade.

I have worked with people from different backgrounds and age groups, in community mental health and in the field of eating disorders.

I most commonly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy with clients as they explore their emotional struggles.

All therapeutic sessions with me are held virtually.

Additionally, I am working on becoming a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist through the International Association for Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp).

iaedp offers the most widely respected certification process for specializing in eating disorder treatment.

I also follow Intuitive Eating and Health At Every Size® (HAES®) principles in my practice.

What is a Licensed Eligible Therapist?

Licensed eligible therapists are professionals that can offer mental health therapy. They are individuals that are actively pursuing credentialing as a licensed therapist. There are various titles for licensed eligible therapists, dependent on their Master's degree. Specifically, Sydney Reese is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI).

RMHCI's are individuals that are actively pursuing the credentialing of Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). RMHCI's must have a Master's degree from a mental health counseling program with specific graduate level coursework and practicum hours, and obtain clinical experience and qualified supervision.

While there are a variety of credentials that allow a professional to provide mental health therapy, the differences are in education and training. The mental health counseling framework is a holistic mental health process with attention to contextual influences on a client's life. It focuses on the strengths and wellness of the person, identification of their individual stressors and level of functioning, and preservation or restoration of their mental health.
