Meet Karen

Hi there! I'm Karen Moore (she/her).

I am excited to help you on your healing journey.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, Qualified Supervisor for Clinical Social Work, and the owner of Bloom.

I believe that everyone is worthy, important, and deserving of healing. My goal is to aid you in developing an intrinsic understanding of yourself and discovering your inner strengths. Recognizing that everyone is the expert of their own life, I will guide you through self-exploration in an accepting and safe environment. All while building skills to improve your overall wellbeing.

Through my vast experience I have found my passion lies in providing individual therapy to tweens, teens, and adults dealing with chronic stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, body image issues, and disordered eating.

In my spare time I enjoy crafting, doing aerial-yoga, or rewatching my favorite shows while snuggling with my cats, Penny and Piper. If you choose to have virtual sessions, you may get the added benefit of cameo furball appearances.

While eclectic in my therapeutic approach, I utilize interventions that are proven to benefit the above-mentioned issues.

The treatment methods I most often use include: Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Psychodrama, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Sand Tray Therapy, and Play Therapy.

I acknowledge that the world is ever shifting and am invested in expanding my therapeutic skills through future trainings to adjust along with it.

Recognizing my passion, along with the intensive knowledge required to support those struggling with disordered eating, I pursued a specialized certification through the International Association for Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp).

iaedp offers the most widely respected certification process for specializing in eating disorder treatment.

I am an anti-diet provider, therefore I follow principles of Intuitive Eating and Health At Every Size® (HAES®). I am currently in the process of becoming a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.

What is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker?

Licensed Clinical Social Workers or LCSW's are professionals that can offer mental health therapy.

While there are a variety of credentials that allow a professional to provide mental health therapy, the differences are in education and training. The social work framework for mental health therapy takes into account not only the individual client's emotional and psychological makeup, but also social and environmental factors that impact the well-being of the client.

LCSW's must have a Master of Social Work degree and fulfill state licensure requirements, such as an examination, trainings, clinical experience, and supervision.

What is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist?

Professionals who demonstrate clinical expertise in disordered eating are eligible for the credential of Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS).

Individuals with the International Association for Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp) Certification designations (CEDS, CEDRD, CEDCAT, or CEDRN) are health care professionals who have met rigorous educational, work experience, and skill requirements, have made a commitment to stay abreast of current developments in the field through continuing education, and have agreed to comply with the Association's ethical principles.
