About Bloom

Welcome to Bloom!

We specialize in providing therapy to individuals struggling with everyday stressors, depression, anxiety, trauma, disordered eating, and body image concerns.

At Bloom we are welcoming and inclusive to all. We strive to empower each client by aiding them in exploring their feelings, thoughts, life experiences, and patterns while expanding on their strengths.

In order to accomplish this we utilize a variety of trauma-informed, experiential, and mindfulness-based treatment approaches.

Bloom was originally founded by Karen Moore, LCSW, CEDS-S as an individual private practice. In recognizing the need for qualified and specialized eating disorder and mental health treatment on the Treasure Coast, Bloom expanded to include additional like-minded, skilled clinicians: Melissa Lichtenberger, RMHCI, and Sydney Reese, RMHCI.

What is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)?

Licensed Clinical Social Workers or LCSW's are professionals that can offer mental health therapy.

While there are a variety of credentials that allow a professional to provide mental health therapy, the differences are in education and training.

The social work framework for mental health therapy takes into account not only the individual client's emotional and psychological makeup, but also social and environmental factors that impact the well-being of the client.

LCSW's must have a Master of Social Work degree and fulfill state licensure requirements, such as an examination, trainings, clinical experience, and supervision.

Karen Moore is qualified to provide supervision to professionals seeking the designation of LCSW in the state of Florida.

What is a RMHCI or Licensed Eligible Therapist?

Licensed eligible therapists are professionals that can offer mental health therapy. They are individuals that are actively pursuing credentialing as a licensed therapist. There are various titles for licensed eligible therapists, dependent on their Master's degree. Specifically, both Melissa Lichtnberger and Sydney Reese are Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns (RMHCI).

RMHCI's are individuals that are actively pursuing the credentialing of Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). RMHCI's must have a Master's degree from a mental health counseling program with specific graduate level coursework and practicum hours, and obtain clinical experience and qualified supervision.

While there are a variety of credentials that allow a professional to provide mental health therapy, the differences are in education and training.

The mental health counseling framework is a holistic mental health process with attention to contextual influences on a client's life. It focuses on the strengths and wellness of the person, identification of their individual stressors and level of functioning, and preservation or restoration of their mental health.

What is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS)?

Professionals who demonstrate clinical expertise in disordered eating are eligible for the credential of Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS).

Individuals with the International Association for Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp) Certification designations (CEDS) are health care professionals who have met rigorous educational, work experience, and skill requirements, have made a commitment to stay abreast of current developments in the field through continuing education, and have agreed to comply with the Association's ethical principles.

iaedp offers the most widely respected certification process for specializing in eating disorder treatment.

What is a CEDS Approved Supervisor (CEDS-S)?

Certified Eating Disorder Specialist - Supervisors, such as Karen Moore, are professionals that are iaedp approved to provide supervision hours to other professionals seeking the designation of CEDS.

Due to the multi-disciplinary work required to treat eating disorders, CEDS-S are able to provide supervision to those outside of their profession seeking a CEDS. For example, Karen Moore can provide CEDS-S supervision to therapists, RDN's, and medical professionals.

Additionally, as iaedp is an International Association, CEDS supervision can be provided across state and national lines.
