About Bloom

Welcome to Bloom!

We understand that at times we need support in becoming who we want to be. At Bloom we strive to empower each client by joining them in the process of exploring their feelings, thoughts, life experiences, and patterns while expanding on their strengths.

At Bloom we specialize in providing mental health healing to individuals struggling with anxiety, body image concerns, eating disorders, depression, self-harming, stressors, and trauma.

In order to provide individualized and impactful care we utilize a variety of evidence-based, trauma-informed, experiential, and mindfulness-based treatment approaches.

In addition, we offer comprehensive assessments for eating disorders, self-harming behaviors, and suicidality. We often collaborate and work with a team of providers including therapists, dietitians, coaches, treatment centers, and medical providers to strengthen the therapeutic work.

Bloom was originally founded by Karen Moore, LCSW, CEDS-S as an individual private practice. In recognizing the increased need for qualified and specialized eating disorder and mental health treatment on the Treasure Coast, Bloom expanded to include additional like-minded, compassionate, and skilled clinicians: Melissa Lichtenberger, LMHC, Sydney Reese, LMHC, and Alyssa Hickey, LCSW.

All clinicians at Bloom have a passion for learning, growing, and providing exceptional client care. As a result, each therapist is actively involved in their ongoing professional development, including participating in continuing education courses exceeding the licensure requirements, regularly engaging in clinical consultation groups, and either maintaining or pursuing the credential of Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) through iaedp™; the most widely respected certification process for specializing in eating disorder treatment.

What does "LCSW" or "LMHC" mean?

There are a variety of credentials that allow a professional to provide mental health therapy, the differences are in education and training.

Specifically, Licensed Clinical Social Workers or LCSW's and Licensed Mental Health Counselors or LMHC's are professionals that can offer mental health therapy.

The social work framework for mental health therapy takes into account not only the individual client's emotional and psychological makeup, but also social and environmental factors that impact the well-being of the client.

The mental health counseling framework is a holistic mental health process with attention to contextual influences on a client's life. It focuses on the strengths and wellness of the person, identification of their individual stressors and level of functioning, and preservation or restoration of their mental health.

LCSW's and LMHC's must have a Master's degree in their relevant field and fulfill state licensure requirements, such as an examination, trainings, clinical experience, and supervision.

At Bloom, we have both LCSW's, Karen Moore and Alyssa Hickey, and LMHC's, Melissa Lichtenberger and Sydney Reese.

What does "CEDS" or "CEDS-S" mean?

Professionals who demonstrate clinical expertise in disordered eating are eligible for the credential of Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS).

Individuals with the International Association for Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp) Certification designations (CEDS) are health care professionals who have met rigorous educational, work experience, and skill requirements, have made a commitment to stay abreast of current developments in the field through continuing education, and have agreed to comply with the Association's ethical principles.

iaedp offers the most widely respected certification process for specializing in eating disorder treatment.

At Bloom, Karen Moore is a CEDS-S, and Sydney Reese, Alyssa Hickey, and Melissa Lichtenberger are all actively in the process of obtaining the CEDS credential.

iaedp Approved Supervisors (CEDS-S), such as Karen, are professionals that have previously obtained a CEDS and are approved through iaedp to provide supervision hours to other professionals seeking the CEDS designation.

Due to the multi-disciplinary work required to treat eating disorders, CEDS-S are able to provide supervision to those outside of their profession seeking a CEDS. For example, Karen can provide CEDS-S supervision to therapists, RDN's, and medical professionals.

Additionally, as iaedp is an International Association, CEDS supervision can be provided across state and national lines.
